- Just because I said I was drifting ungraciously towards my gardening days two and a half years ago, doesn’t mean I can’t enthusiastically enter a Yates Veggie Challenge this year. I started yesterday by buying some products to make the soil better and some seeds to put in it after. This morning I did some weeding and digging. later on this afternoon when it’s not so hot I’m going to dig some blood & bone and stuff into the dirt. Part of the competition is that I get to write about it. If you want to read about my gardening struggles and maybe see some pictures of our “garden” you can check it out here.
- I’ve just put up a new banner. It’s me and my brother sailing our Optimists at Wairau Diversion. Dad must have been putting us through our paces judging by the buoy he’s put in the middle of the river. What I like about this photo is that I’m obviously going to get to the buoy first, therefore it documents a time when I was still the better sailor…
- William experienced his first cattery last weekend. When we dropped him off, I expected tears and last-minute hugs. Ha! He was so excited by all the cats in the adjoining cages that he didn’t even know I was there the little beast. When we picked him up three days later he was wild-eyed and I don’t think he’d slept for more than a few unwelcome minutes the whole time we were away. The lovely lady at the cattery called him a gorgeous boy and asked me if he was spoilt. I’d never considered it, but supposed that he was – it’s hard to say no when your cat is wearing a black suede collar with diamantes on it.
- I wasn’t able to write about the Christchurch earthquake and I don’t really want to, except to say my family and friends are OK. I don’t want to write about Japan either except to acknowledge it; it’s too much.
