It’s Sunday afternoon
2009 April 5
I’m sitting in front of my study desk, on which is my computer, two notice boards, notes and readings, a sewing machine, a bottle of water, a cold cup of tea and the crumbs of two afghan biscuits. Today, I have:
- Ran 14.5k.
- Finished my readings for tutorial five about the judicial role.
- Checked facebook.
- Eaten lunch at Cheung Sing with Eddie, where we had a wee disagreement about how I like to discuss my study of law.
- Bought groceries. Our operation is so fine-tuned we can do this quite efficiently without speaking to one another.
- Eaten one afghan biscuit and drunk a cup of tea.
- Checked facebook.
- Started my readings for tutorial six, about the difference between judging and politics according to Hart and Dworkin.
- Made and half-drunk another cup of tea.
- Continued to read my tutorial six readings.
- Accepted Eddie’s peace offering of another afghan biscuit.
- Told Eddie to have a good surf and to be careful of the bluebottles. He still has huge welts on his legs from a particularly vicious battle with them on Friday afternoon.
- Checked facebook.
- Stared at my notes on Dworkin’s view of adjudication as an interpretive task for a while.
- Stared out the window at a piece of blue sky they size of a sailor’s trousers.
- Decided that the best remedy for my study induced ennui is to go for a walk to the beach!
Sounds like a very productive day to me!
It could have been so much better though! If I could have just got my mind to stop wandering.
