Relaxing on my first day between jobs

I raced around the house this morning pulling on my bikini and wetsuit, grabbing my board and looking everywhere for my swimfins.  They weren’t in my boardbag, or under the pile of wetsuits in the study, or in the surf gear container in the laundry.

So I texted Eddie just in case he knew where I’d put them.  He called me back and we had a conversation about whether they were still in Mum and Dad’s wash house (yes it’s been that long since I went for a surf!) or if they may have been stolen from my boardbag on the flight back from NZ last month.  Then I remembered I had a spare pair tucked away in a box on top of the bookshelf.

I dragged the box down from the bookshelf, found the fins, put everything in the car and drove down the hill to the beach.  It was a lovely morning and the surf was uncrowded, because it was small and fat.  Big and fat, or small and sucky I could have paddled out for, but for this I couldn’t.

I drove back up the hill took all my gear inside, and tried to put my board back in it’s bag.  Funny thing is, it wouldn’t go in, so I reached into the bottom of the bag to find my missing swimfins.  We seriously need better lighting in our place.

To console myself, over the lack of surf, I went to Mr Big Stuff for lunch.  I didn’t have the French toast with baked bananas, raspberries and maple syrup, but I did have a delicious chicken and tarragon ravioli with green pesto.  All in all a great day to begin my five day break.
