Buffy, Angel, & Twilight
Dad asked me if I liked Buffy the Dragon Slayer this morning. And I said “Well yeah, I s’pose… enough to know it’s Buffy the VAMPIRE Slayer.” Then he said “Well Amazon is selling the complete collection for GBP50.”
At this very moment, I hope, a complete collection of Buffy DVDs is being taken off the shelf at Amazon, wrapped up in cardboard and addressed to me! And just to keep everything all nice and tidy, a complete collection of Angel DVDs too.
Keeping with the vampire theme, Eddie and I went to see Twilight today. It is the school holidays so we didn’t pay too much attention to the number of young girls in the foyer. Then we walked up the steps and handed our tickets to the usher so he could deadpan “More for twilight, it’s a real chick flick teeny bopper movie, the girls love it.”
We thanked him and laughed, confident that he was exaggerating, then walked into a cinema FULL of teenage girls. It wouldn’t be a lie to say we were the oldest in the room by at least fifteen years! Maybe even twenty. And Eddie was one of only three boys.
It’s no Buffy, or Angel. But gosh it was easy to watch Bella and Edward for two hours and twenty minutes, they were so young and beautiful, with the kind of translucent skin I can only dream about.
