It was going to be fun
It was going to be fun. I was going to learn the basics. I was going to finish beginners class one and go on to beginners class two. I was going to learn to speak Italian.
I went to my first class. I had just finished work and I was tired. When my tutor said “Come sta?” I said “Bene, grazie, E Lei?” in a high voice. My tutor imitated my high voice and I wondered briefly if I was back in high school instead of in an adult evening class. Ten minutes later the tutor spoke to me in Italian and pointed at my face. I tried to interpret what he was saying. “I look tired?” No, I looked worried and he found this very funny. I didn’t think it was funny. He told me to “relax.” I said “I’ll relax when you stop making personal remarks.”
My tutor didn’t make any more personal remarks, but mostly ignored me from then on, if he could. I said I would prevail, but I didn’t. I missed four classes out of ten. I haven’t done that since I was in high school.
I can’t give up though. I still want to be able to speak in Italian when I go to Italy. I said I would. So, now I have to find somewhere else to take lessons. *Sigh* Where do I go, where do I go now?
como esta? espero que encontra un buen profesor italiano eh!!
Benissimo! Grazie. Espero también.
