I wear orange lipgloss and our window sills are painted…

May 1, 2008

Why did there have to be a painter outside our windows, painting the window sills TODAY?

When the painter knocked on our door this morning, I opened it wearing a ridiculous, orange, lipgloss that I would never wear in public.  I’m fairly sure it looked terrifying ’cause the painter was quite nervous about asking me to open all the windows so he could paint them.  I wanted to say “No, no, I’m not really terrifying, it’s just that my lips are all dry from blowing my nose too much and I can’t find my chapstick and this awful lipstick is all I’ve got.”  But, I thought that would probably make things worse, so I said “Sure, I’ll just go and do that now.”

Then, my dear painter spent the rest of the day outside our open windows painting the window sills.  It’s not very relaxing you know… having a painter just outside your open windows when you’re sick and in no position to go anywhere.  I spent the rest of the day rugged up in the afghan blanket my Mother-in-Law made especially for Eddie and me, blowing my nose, leaving used tissues lying around the house, and wishing I could wear any damn lipstick I liked without worrying that my painter thought I looked like a freak!
